HELP Balljoint Problem

Well long story short i ripped the boot on the balljoint of both my controller arms and after speeking to the dealer they tell me that i have to buy a new balljoint assembly and that i can not get just the boot. anybody have a cheaper way of fixing this problem besides buying new balljoints.

u can buy the ball joints and put them in yourself www.rockauto.com has them get the part number and buy it from a local parts store thats what i did

but all i need is the boot, the balljoint its self is in good condition the rubber boot that covers the balljoint is torn it pops right off and seems like it can be replaced seperately

You can try, but I don't think you'll find ball joint boots like you can find CV axle joint boots. Replacing the ball joint via press is the next least expensive option. I'm surprised the dealer recommended just replacing the ball joint because most will tell you to replace the whole control arm which has the ball joint which will cost you a whole lot more. As was mentioned, you'll have to go aftermarket if you are just replacing the ball joint.

nope. to get that exact boot you need to buy the whole thing. Had the same problem on my beater/dailydriver saturn. I had to go to several auto parts stores to find a good universal one. Never tried the dealer though. might wanna try that. Iam sure itll still be cheaper than the whole ball joint.

Are you guys talking about the boot related to the steering?If so go to advance autoparts and order OEM replacements they have them for $18, BeckArnley makes them.
