Nissan 125 POINT inspection does NOT cover checking for CODES?
My engine light is on and I remembered that Nissan was doing the FREE inspection so I take it down my local Nissan (glenn nissan of lexington) and they said it doesnt cover checking for codes and that it would cost 90.00 to check for the code.
I thought this was kinda weird. Any one know better?

Kinda weird. I figure these dealerships are trying to sucker people in to give them more business.
I'm sure you know this, but you can get it checked for free...well, it'll cost you a screwdriver.

Turn the ignition to on but don't start the car. On the driver's side next to the gas pedal on the floor is the ECU. Pop the cover off, should have 2 tabs holding it on. Take the flat screwdriver, break the seal if it's still a virgin, turn the screw all the way clockwise, wait about 3 seconds then turn it back to where it was. Check you flashing CEL. Should be quick flashes, a pause then longer flashes. Find out what it all means here http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=104931
Glenn is doing free inspections???
When I went to Superior Nissan I think they were only gonna charge like $35 or $45 to check it. Heard bad things about their service dept. though.
Good luck

THanks for the help..
Funny story, I followed the instructions on my virgin ECU and no pulses came out. I was soo worried then I moved it back and found out it only needed to be RESET.
SCORE!!!
Thanks again
