I keep hearing a strange sound from my engine when I accelerate. Sounds like a gurgling sound. A freing of mine suggests that its a valve, but Im not sure. I beleive that that could be the cause to why the acceleration is so sluggish. I recently changed my plugs, knock sensor and fuel filter, and still no improvements. Gas mileage is a little better. But engine still sounds the same. Now today, when my car is at an idle, I hear a ticking sound and the Idle seems pretty rough. Any ideas?

 

Explain in more detail.. the gurgling.. do you have a intake? The ticking.. is it constant tick or random ticks?

 

Well the gurgling sounds like it could be mistaken with my muffler. Whenever I accelerate into second thats when it seems to be the loudest. I was driving my friends max yesterday and I didnt hear a sound. His max seems to pull a bit harder than my "I" and the thing that bothers me the most is that he's approaching 220k. His gears shift smoother and everthing. As for the ticking, i noticed it today when I was at a red light. It seemed to be more of a constant tick than any thing.

 

does it sound like "vroom vroom" and does the rpm go up also?

LOL the only gurgling sound i get is when the stupid automagic is in a higher gear than its supposed to and i accelerate.. sounds like the car is gurgling a cup of water in it.. I got ticking as well, injectors... but i cant hear them unless i open the hood or stand right by the wheels..

no my post was a joke cause when u read it and think about it, it sounds funny.

and the ticking sound that u guys hear could be hthe engine knocking. try to fill ur ca r up next time with premium fuel (the best they got), and it goes away, then u know it is the engine knocking cause our maximas are supposed to be filled up with the best fuel.

 

Sounds like engine ping.
Change your o2 sensors.

 

that is what i just said abouve, your valves are hitting your cylinder head.
