Bad ECU sending invalid (nusiance) codes - was told the unit was coroded (water from AC sometime earlier). Check engine light will fail inspection so I have to replace ECU (even though the car runs well). Found one with same number but unsure if after swap whether I need to bring to dealer for reprogram - or good to go. Lastly, need to know how to pull the ECU.
After removing side covers and bolt holding harness, what is next? the front screws look impossible to get to, do I remove the 2 bolts on the front bracket? Are there other bolts in the back? Really don't want to take all day and it's tight. Any help / tips on what I need to do to remove?
Would love to get opinion on how to pull ECU and whether it make sense to upgrade or modify the ECU. Love this 96 maxima w/153K.
