ecu code 0214

Hello...I own a 1998 SE 5-spd and knew I had a bad knock sensor for the last six months, but my CEL did not come on until a few weeks ago. I retrieved the codes manually and got 0304 for the knock sensor and 0214 which was undefined (on an online code site). When I took the car to the shop, the computer only read one code 0304. I went ahead and replaced the knock sensor last week, only to have the CEL come back on over the weekend with the 0214 code. Does anyone have any idea what this code means? The computer at the garage doesn't pick it up although the CEL is still on. Hope someone can help with this issue. By the way, I should add that the ECU has been cleared three times now but the code keeps coming back. Thanks...

From my Haynes manual: 0214 is EVAP canister purge volume control valve or circuit fault.

Had accidentally posted this question in wrong forum, but 98maxblackwind kindly replied and has more info:

ok before you catch hell for this post. ill answer you question. 0214 is your evap canister purge volume control valve. its located on top of your intake manifold. its the biggest thing next to the throttle body. it hase one gray harness and 2 hoses comming out of it. but here is the fun part. it may not be just that which is wrong. get yourself a chiltons manual and examine section4-6 through 4-10 for the evap troubleshooting section. and page 4-30 for the vacume wiring digrams. i hope this helps. i have the same problem so im working on it too. for future refrence post this in the 4th gen sections.
