Help - power door lock problem
I can no longer lock my doors using the power door lock button(not remote key fob) while the car key is in the ignition. As long as the key is in the ignition, I can't even manually lock the car door by pressing and holding the door lock button on either of the front 2 doors.
However the power door lock button works just fine as long as the key is not in the ignition. Remote key fob works just fine.
Does anyone know the cause of this problem? The 4 doors/trunk are definitely not ajar when the problem occurs. Any help would be appreciated!

Ummm, its a safety feature. Whats the best way to keep you from locking your keys in your car while they are in the ignition?????
Dont let the doors lock if the keys are in the ignition.
Its like this on my 1996 Max too. There might be a way to disable this, but why would you want to?

Please let me clarify my statment above. What I really meant to say is I am unable to lock the doors even when the car is running. Basically when the engine is running the power door locks still cannot not be engaged. The only way to lock the doors is to shut off the engine, take the key out of the ignition, engage the power door locks, and then start the car again.
Anyone know anything about this bizarre issue? Thanks in advance.

I recommend givin a lil jingle to ur local stealership cause they might know of that issue. I doubt it would be a fuse cause you would have other issues on ur hand...i don't think there is a specific fuse for the power locks (could be wrong) but chances are it is a loose connection somewhere or a shorted wire cause if both side don't work then you know that it isn't just the one button....sorry i can't help more :-(
