People with HIDs
My beam pattern is all over the place( mostly in the on coming traffic's eyes). Most of the time, the beam goes over the car and i end up blinding people. I have a 6000k McCullough kit on a 1997. Do you think that getting headlight eyelids would help me from blinding people? If not, anybody have any kind of suggestions that i can do?
Have you tried aiming the headlights?... When I switched to HID I had to change not only the vertical aim, but also the horizontal. I've got the same kit as you, and I very rarely get flashed by other drivers. I've actually been told that my fog lights are more distracting.
Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you have to put an eyelid type thing on the bottom of the lens in order to effect the top of the beam pattern???
I remember somebody saying this once... but I might be wrong

thanks for the comments guys. I did try to aim the headlights as far down as possible with the outer adjuster but the beam just stays level with the car. Which is the adjuster to mess with the vertical pattern?
EDIT* Is it possible that the adjuster screws can break if you try to adjust the headlights a little too far down or to the side?

i have my heads aimed pretty low, but low enough to still see down my entire block at night when im driving, hehe. As far as people high beaming me, only old farts on the road high beam me an that happens like once a month. Everyone else seems to be ok with them when im driving.

The best thing to do is to either try and make a shield or retrofit your headlights to projectors. Go on the hidforum.com and do a search on 9004 and maxima, you should find a whole bunch of sh*t - sh*t that i posted too. There is a casper shield for HID bulbs, but only for h4's, they don't make it for the 9000 series bulbs. I called Casper Electronics and asked them if they would be making the shields for the 9000 series bulbs and they said they were in the process, but I don't know if they're bullsh*tting me or not.
I asked the question too on the HIDforum about glare on oncoming traffic. A member said the only thing to do is paint the bottom half of the bulb. I did more research on this on another HID website and they said the paint would cause more heat therefore shortening the life of the bulb.

Good luck!

felixdacat is right, you cannot do much to your HID lights without a retrofit. That is the only proper way of getting HIDs in non HID cars to work like the high end german cars. You can just keep them like that and be another ricer who goes for 12000k and blinds everyone on the road just to make it seem like it has a purple flicker. Another good place to go that gives a lot of information on HID lights, conversions and where to get your stock headlights retrofitted is http://www.intellexual.net/hid.html. Read that out and try some of the links, they help a lot. Also, at the bottom of that page, by the links, there is a link to a NYC place that does them, and when I went to their web site, they have 4th gen maxima headlights they already retrofitted and you can see what they look like. Hope that helps.
and also, on the rims, yea, the evo5 look really good, but you guys definetly gotta look into the 5zigen hyper 5zr, they are some hot rims, and the black chrome ones are even hotter, but the only problem with them is that the best you can find them is about 3500... I'm in the process of saving up for them right now.
wow, is the glare that bad man? sheesh... The people here in CT didnt seem to mind that much. I actually had stock aiming, and never had to aim them down further. I guess they have a higher tolerance to the glare than Tx... sorry to hear that you are getting flashed so much... maybe if you want to spend a little more you can retrofit them with some projectors with a good cutoff.. :-/

Problem solved people. I just aimed them down. Though the right headlight does stick out alittle bit cuz of the vertical adjuster but they don't blind people. I'm just happy that people aren't yelling at me anymore.

Otherwise, you can get some Volks, and really help out your performance.
