what to do next ???? (performance)

i have an AUTO 97 SE and as far as performance goes i have a frankencar short ram system...just got my warpspeed y-pipe and magna flow hi-flo cat....im wondering whats the next best thing to get. since the y-pipe is the best for the buck, im looking for the next best thing after the y.

what would be the verdict on tthe unorthodox racing underdrive pulley? is it for auto's as well??? it looks like i'll get a few more horses from that before i go out and get that greddy SP2 cat-back.

It really depends on what your other future plans (mods) are for your vehicle. If you plan on hooking up some super duper current pulling stereo system, then I would say avoid anything that under drives your charging system. If you are not into rediculous stereo systems, then the under drive pulley is a good mod to think about. Especially for an auto, it will help out with some of the low end pick up the auto's lack.

If you ever plan on eventually using a SC, Turbo or Nitrous, then I would say wait on the ECU upgrade so you won't have to do it twice to correct the timing advance that the normal ECU upgrade will produce.

If you want to improve the way your tranny feels & performs, then you could either do the VB upgrade. Or you could consider the Drop Resistor mod. With either of these mods you will need to purchase a tranny cooler (Hayden model# 403 or 404). So I would do some more research if considering these upgrades. Some people say VB mod works great but is too expensive & other people say the DR mod with tranny cooler works better & is cheaper to aquire.

However if you purchase the Greddy cat back exhaust system, that is a mod that will most likely work well with all other future upgrades.

So based on that information you should be able to make a decision regarding your plans for your vehicle in the future. I hope that helps you out...

catch the technosquare ecu upgrade on group deal for 380, you will need a 96 ecu to send in. make sure it matchs your auto tranny and you are good to go.

sounds like great advice...nostrixoxide was very in depth...i actually do plan on getting a supercharger around next year. and i was thinking about possibly changing to a 5-speed. I wanted more performance from now though. i guess my best bet is to just get the Greddy SP2...

and also the tranny cooler looks like a good idea too.

my stereo system pumps 1000 watts right now...do u think going a little higher will be bad for the pulley? i understand the idea behind it but i was wondering what would u call i big system.

Having a high wattage stereo system will not effect the pulley. It will basically be a drain on your battery. I would recommend atleast using a 2 fared stiffing cap if you plan on purchasing the under drive pulley. This would help alittle because the cap holds a charge for the amp to pull from & the caps recharge very fast. Some people will say that the under drive pulley doesn't make that big of an effect on the charging system because our altinators produce between 100 - 125 amp's. The problem with having a high current pulling stereo system with an under drive pulley is you end up using more juice from the battery then the altinator can supply back to the battery. This shortens the life of your battery.

I used to run a 1500 watt system all rockford fosgate amp's, JL Audio sub's & seperates. It was very insanely loud. Then I switched over to a PPI 5 channel amp that is only rated @ 400 watts RMS. 50x4 + 200x1. And I cannot notice a difference in sound. It seems equally as loud, plus it is a lot cleaner. If you use slightly higher quality amp's you can get away with using less wattage.

My idea of a good stereo is very clean sound, not distorted?
