Just Got Warpspeed Y Pipe On.. Questions?

OK, so I took my 99 SE-L to get my warpspeed Y Pipe FINALLY put on! I get it back, and it has the bees in a can sound when I'm at idle. When driving a few miles, I start to get a burning smell.. Now the shop finished installing about an hour before I picked my baby up, but when I finally got home about 10 miles later, I see a very light faint smoke coming from the pipe. Not sure if this is supposed to happen or not, can someone with more insight on exhaust systems please help me out! When I'm in neutral I have no problems, sound wise. The guy at the shop said there is a VERY small leak in my resinator, and that the y pipe was a "*****" to put on. Any help would be much appreciated.

warpspeed's y-pipe alignment is not perfect. they tend to rub against the cross member and makes weird rattling sound. i had to cut off that extra piece that was rubbing the cross member. also the following things will help:

1. remove heat shield from your flex section all the way back to b-pipe
2. remove the prongs off the y-pipe supporter
3. remove the extra piece off the cross-member
4. get exhaust wrap and wrap the flex section (or the entire y-pipe) to decrease extra bees-in-the-poo sound.

The burning smell is normal for a new exhaust piece. Prob just burning off some oil or lube residue on outside of pipe.

My pipe bangs around and makes noise under high load but definately no bees in a can sound at idle.

yeah, I think the smell is normal.
For me, it was some tape that was stuck to the pipe that I couldn't get off, and it burned off the first time I cranked the car up for a few minutes.

My WSP pipe bangs when I am peeling out from a stop hard. I don't have a bees-in-the-can sound, but I don't like that it is hitting. I wonder if it is just that cross member that is doing it?

What you thing, happyricefob.

As for the hole in the resonator, they are cheap....go get a new one put on. It will probably sound better too.

I have a 99.5 too, and it was not all that difficult to put on. I mean, my brother and I put it on in about an hour.
