Hello all, My Max is giving me a weird problem

When the car is in Drive (yes I know I should have gotten a 5-spd) and stopped the car feels like it's surging, it's start to buck, like it's about to die, but if I put it in nuetral or park it will not do it. I have tried to raise the idle, but still the same problem, I set the idle to 900 and it will move back down to 500 this is when it starts surging. during the night hours when I have the headlights on I can see the light dim a little with the surging...

I have no problems when the car is driving.

I have changed so far
Spark plugs
Air Filter
New battery

any ideas?

I know that my car does that sometimes and I'm not really sure if that's a big issue to worry about.

 

have you tested your ignition coils? i would start your car and then test each coil by unplugging it(that little cable that goes into it) if the car runs different when u do this, most likely that one is fine. keep doing this to all 6 coils. if you dont notice a difference then change this coil.... this works best with a buddy who has a similar max... if u find a coil u think is bad, ask him if you can swap the coils temporarily and see if this fixes it. I had the problem u are talking about and the dealer did exactly what i described here, i replaced the coil that they said was bad, and it ran fine after that.
