well i need to flush the fluid on my 99, and i read the directions on how to do it, but i need to know what parts i need to get from nissan... as far as bolts, gaskets and stuff, is there a kit or anything i can ask for?? also what is the full capacity of the flush (NOT drain and re-fill), and whats a good generic brand fluid to use, i have to many miles to use synthetic..

I just recently did mine and all you need is 5 quarts of destron III or equivalent (you can check your manual to find out the exact recommended one) and just the filter/gasket combo which you can get at Kragen or PepBoys or Autozone. Just tell 'em that you need the tranny gasket/filter.
The filter is a metal mesh grill screen type of thing. Just be careful with it.
The gasket is the average paper type gasket (that swells up when wet, so keep it dry until you install).
To drain, just get under the car and locate what looks like a oil pan but the bolt that you're looking for will sit flat against it and it's quite large.
Pull the bolt and you'll watch a bunch of red liquid gush out. However, you want to warm up the tranny before you start to get all the fluid out.
Once you drain the oil, start pulling the pan. There are a bunch of little bolts all around so just take your time to get 'em all out.
Finally, when you're ready to pull the pan off, don't use a screw driver or anything to pry it off. If you must, use a rubber mallet and get it loose. It will be messy but it gets the job done.
Finally, once you pull the pan, you'll see the screen (exactly the type that you'll get from the auto store), again, pull bolts and replace.
Then clean everything up, put a new gasket and install everythign the way it was. CHeck the manual (Haynes or Chiltons) for torque specs on the bolts, i think they are like 12ft/lbs or something like that.
Then pour 4 quarts in and start checking the level.
Pretty straight forward.
Good luck.
are there any pics on where the tranny plug is. im interested in doing this soon as well. do i need to raise the car, and do i need to remove the pan, is it absolutly necessary. i dont want to do a half *** job but im pretty sure if i remove the pan im gonna screw something up knowing my luck.

I did a tranny flush on my car over the weekend, I'm planning to do the resistor mod next weekend. A good friend of mine owns his own workshop, he's got a proper machine for flushing out the stall converter, it took about 15 mins, while i was at it i added a big trans cooler. My car has only done 120,000kms and i must say the flush has made a huge difference to the car although i did do the usual 5000 oil filter change at the same time, I'm booked in to get my custom 'Y' pipe made this week, if it makes as bigger difference as the last service did, I'll be a happy man !
