Facial Reconstruction (Accident Pix)

Was in a car accident on the way home from the Tampa meet. We were flying the whole way home playing with a stupid Altima and MX-6 and I get into an accident 5 minutes from my house barely doing 30mph... Long story short a ricer 89(ish) Civic tapped me from the back and ran through a solid red light which was a flashing yellow light for emergency vehicles... It caused me to hit the back of a Chrysler Sebring that actually stopped at the light. Studman and E55AMG were on their ways home yet came to the rescue and took care of me. Anyway, without further adieau... here's the pix...

I'm okay. That damage is caused from a collision of only 30-35mph... No airbags deployed. Look at her car! A bumper needs replacing! At least now my SE-L will have a true SE-L grille and I won't be the only Maxima SXE-L...

Carbon Fiber Hood, Cefiro Headlights, Z3 Fenders, and a new bumper your good to go I was in a accident similar to urs I know how it feels. Just pray there's no frame damage.

Glad to hear you're ok and lucky it wasn't much worse

Sorry about the damage to your max, bro. I had the same accident when I had my '98 Altima 4 yrs back, but then I wasn't racing anyone, it was caused by wet weather

I thought the Sebring would have worse damage, but it took it well for an American car, not that much damage. However looks like yours took the worst of it, I feel bad for ya,

To me that's too painful to see something like that happen to a Maxima

and as 2 Da Max said "a maxima owner's nightmare"

IMO Altimas are bad luck.

Guy definantly has frame damage, frame rail for fender, and frame that holds radiator support and headlight and bumper reinforcements.

if the sensor is not hit , the airbag module does not deploy the airbags.

I'm pretty sure the front brace of the frame needs replacing. The airbags I was told didn't deploy because it was a "Stage I" front end collision and was under 35mph. I'm glad they didn't because each one carries a $650 price tag...

I'll see if I can get the driver clear corner out. There's not damage to the left side except for a bent quarter panel. At least I am "forced" to drive a '04 Maxima SL for the first week and an '03 Touring 350Z for the second week while the car's in the shop...

left rear qaurter panel? how did that get damaged? radiator support is probably gone and u got lucky on the airbags also. thanks for the clear corner cause mine is cracked. also you are somewhat lucky cause you will be driving a 6th gen max and a 350z. enjoy until your max is fixed and how much will it run you?

Your car is supposed to crumple, it's doing its job of protecting you and receiving the shock instead of your own body receiving it. Anyway really sucks about your car dude, but the important thing is ur ok..good luck.

maximas dont cruble like other cars though. we boought a 98 integra with the same damge and that car bent so bad that the door wouldnt close and a dent appeared on the roof. maximas are built very strong. nothing gets past the firewall.

Yea, the passenger compartment is not supposed to crumple up, ideally it will maintain its shape and only the crumple zones (passenger compartment foward and rearward) will absorb the impact. The rear ends of cars dont crumple as easily to prevent contact with the fuel tank I believe...that would explain why that sebring was in good condition. I've seen plenty of accidents where the car that got rear ended was in fine condition.

If i remember correctly though 95-96 Maximas weren't built very good for safety...they only had acceptable ratings.

I am pretty sure it will be done by May 13th so I hope to make it. Not too cure on the date of the meet yet though... I'm definetly making sure the adjuster and body shop are on top of things at all times.

wanted to see how your Max was coming along Stringztoo since your accident. How much did it cost altogether and how long was your max out of commission?

looks very nice now. but what i would have done to make it look better is cut the plastic pieces from where the hole in the bumper is. the car will look alot better without them. i did it on mine. a regular blade will work or you could heat them up and it will be even easier. how much it ran you in the end and where did you get the parts from?
