rear brake change problems
rear brake change problems
before the flaming begins, the link on the FAQ regarding rear brakes doesn't work and 2ndly, i can get the search to work right.
so here goes
trying to replace rear brakes on my 95 SE. things were going well until i had to try to c-clamp the piston back into place. bottom line, it wont budge.
tried everything i know. the gap is about 1-1/4" and i need about 1-1/2".
even tried to bleed out some brake fluid to have a little less resistance - to no avail...
e-brake is disconnect too.
is there any lube needed? is the piston shot? help!!!!
i'm doing everything i did 60k miles ago, it went fine then! dunno...
help soon! it's on jacks in the garage until i get it figured out...
your assistance would be greatly appreciated
thanks!

you have to turn the piston as you compress it.... look and you will see 2 notches in the piston.... there is a tool avabile but you can use a pair of thin plyers to turn the piston as to push in.... oh yea turn it clockwise
ok this is the tool you need its very cheap and can be found anywhere turn it clockwise and thats it

Need to move to "How to" section. I would love to have had one of these when I changed my rear pads. I knew what I had to do, but needle-nose pliers are no substitute for the right tool!
well i got it done. went to autozone last night at midnite and "borrowed" the tool. 35$ deposit, fully refundable upon return.
i tried needle nose first but could "get on it" to turn it.
now here's where i feel really stufphid...there was picture of the tool in my haynes book. am i an idiot or what!
thanks for everyones comments
