Afe your front rotors warm after driving?

Hi all:

The other night, I happened to feel my what I think are my front rotors (shiny plates visible behind rims) and noticed they were quite warm. I hadn't been braking excessively or anything. The rears were very cool.

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Is this because the front does the most breaking? I hope the pads aren't slightly touching the rotors even with the brakes off.

Thanks!

Yes, those are the rotors. Yes, front brakes do more work than rear brakes. It is normal for the brake pad friction linings to be be riding on the surface of the rotors and lightly touching them.

It's normal for the rotors to be warm. If there is a problem such as a sticking caliper the rotor will be hot! Hot enough to burn your hand. One Maxima.Org member reported seeing one of his rotors glowing red hot.

There's nothing wrong with your brakes. Enjoy the ride!

Thanks Daniel

Daniel you are a continued asset to all of us here.

I have noticed sometimes that the fronts do get warm enough to the point that I wouldn't want to leave my fingers on them for more than a few seconds. However, they have never instantly burned me and certainly never glowed red!

Thanks again.
