Fidanza VS. UR Flywheel

I am looking at buying an aftermarket flywheel but don't know which one to purchase. I have heard good things about both brands, but I have also heard that you loose power from going to light. The Fidanza flywheel weighs around 9-10lbs and the UR flywheel weighs around 4-5lbs. My question is, is it true. That going to light is bad. I have also heard that if you rev higher on launching that there is no real problem. By the way I also replaced my stock wheels with some 18x8's and gained 20lbs from doing so. So I was wondering if that would play any factor in the equation. I am setting my car up strictly for 1/4 racing (street driven also) so this is a big factor in launching and launching is a big factor in getting low E.T's. If Anyone could provided any information about this it would be greatly appreciated, because I am going to make the purchase soon and it is really bothering me because I dont' want to spend all of that money and get the wrong thing. Thanks.

I'm no expert, but I'd guess that heavy wheels will make a bigger difference than a flywheel. If you really want to get off the line quickly buy the set of Mazda Millenia wheels for sale in the Wheels/Tires forum and get some slicks.

I have the findanza, and if your only concern is 1/4 mile times then I would not recomend a lightend flywheel. The biggest reason being that the money can be better spent else where to reduce 1/4 mile times and the slightly less reason is because it make launching a bit more difficult. The flywheel is not a "bad" mod, I like mine. It's just not the best way to spend money to reduce 1/4 mile times. IMO

I would recomend getting rid of those rims though.

Check out the 5th gen forum, there is a recent two page thread on this exact topic.

why buy bigass rims if you're concerned primarily about drag racing? buy some light 15-16" competition rims and a cf hood to save weight.
