i hope i explain this right...heres my problem.
the car never had any shut offs previously but yesterday after washing the car,
the car started to idle low shake a little and cut off then the check engine light comes on. i would start the car immediately, then i would come on then shut off.
then if i start it up again i would run good for about 15 minutes (driving) but the car feels now like its restricted...its not getting power on exceleration..and when i try to push the car on the strip we have over here...at a high speed....u could feel the car kind of hesitating..(fuel injection maybe?)
i dont have a clue
help needed thanks

Sounds like a problem with your Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS)

What code did you get from the "Check Engine Light"?
Could also be that your air filter got wet when you washed the car.

best guess is the MAFS...

Hmm

If you washed your car, maybe the filter got wet.
I don't know but its also possible a freak thinkg happened to your MAFS.

Only other thing i can think of is open your Thorttle Body and clean that sucka out.

I did the other day. It idles better now, slight power increase. SLIGHT.

DON'T clean the MAFS!!!

unless you specifically think a dirty MAFS is your issue...it's quite fragile!
if you were to do it, I *believe* you can use throttle body cleaner...but,
I'd recommend you try looking at a few other things first:

1) MAFS wiring...check the connection, wiring...my MAFS acted up because a
wire was connected poorly in the wiring harness right near the firewall.

2) Clean the Throttle Body...your car will be better anyway...it will idle high for
a little while, but, that's normal...it normalizes in a few days.

3) Check your air filter...maybe something is partially blocking it?

4) What code did you get? Did you get any? Is the CEL always on?

5) While I guess it might be the fuel pump, what about the fuel filter?
Although, I don't know why your problem started after the car wash...

anyway, that's my $0.02 for now...hope it helps.

I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON THURSDAY!!!!!! i washed the car, turned it on about an hour later and car would stall and couldnt rev past 2500 rpms. after that the check engine light came on and i got an 0706 an 0102 (MAFS problem) i was ****ed then came on the org, then checked the engine again and it started working well with me giving it a lil gas to keep idle up.
now the car works just fine, and i even installed my y-pipe and pulley today.

any idea what this problem could be, i do have a injen clone CAI so could a wet filter have been the culprit?

if your car won't go over 2500, then it's in safe mode...
not sure how to reset that (prolly just reset the ECU).

but, now you know why it did that...

well it took it to the mechanic...and as some of suspected...
he came to the conclusion that the MAFS might be the problem
..
actually when i looked at it...(the top part like black plastic....i believe thats the sensor part) it was covered with build up (dirt i guess) i cleaned it off...(with just a soft cloth (GENTLY) it worked fine...then drove for a while...then the car started to hesitate...like the airflow i guess...
so i opened the hood put my hand over the MAFS, and it shut off...it was actually reacting to my hand being placed over it ...so i guess its pretty much defective...

any opinions please?

check local scrap yards for a used MAFS.
places around here usually give 3 or 6 month warranties.
dealership is uber-expensive!!!

also, before you change the MAFS, check the wiring!!!
I ended up replacing my MAFS, but it didn't fix my problem -- turned out that
the MAFS wire was broken near the firewall -- EVEN THOUGH I HAD NEVER
OPENED THE WIRING HARNESS...the tight bend and shifting of the engine over
time wore away the wiring...fixed the wire, car runs great!!!

hope this helps,

Check the "ECU Fault Diagnosis" sticky at the top of the forum for instructions on how to check/clear the MIL/CEL codes.
