My 95 SE tachometer has gone bad. The dealer price for the tachometer for SE trim alone is outrageous. Close to $400 for tachometer alone, not the whole cluster panel. From the net I found a 97 SE in junkyard but they only want to sell the whole cluster panel. I have not called the junkyard yet. I am just wondering if all 97 SE has digital odometer.

Other question. Can I just swap the tachometer plastic cover (the backlit one) so I can just get a used GXE/GLE tachometer and put my white backlit cover to it?

Thanks

All the '97s have the same instrument cluster as the 95-96....they didn't go to the digtial ODO/TRIP and reversed fuel gauge until '98, so you can just replace the whole cluster no problem.

Thanks for the information.

Has anybody ever tried take out the speedometer or odometer plastic cover? It seems the GXE/GLE cluster panel is cheaper so if I can just put my white backlit tachometer cover into the GXE/GLE, I will have other option that is cheaper.

BriGuyMax, what do you mean "reversed the fuel guage"? I drove a 99 once and did notice a difference in the fuel guage layout.....but I didn't pay attention to it that much, just how much slower it was than my 97.
