2001 Xterra radio... plug 'n' play?

Sorry for posting this question in this forum, the audio forum hasn't given me any answers.

I have the opportunity to buy a 2001 Xterra (non-Bose) radio, and I am hoping to put it in my 1996 GXE (non-Bose). Does anyone know if the wiring harnesses are compatible? I would hope I could just plug it in to the existing harness and it would function properly. Any thoughts?

Thank you,

belosic

well you would need all bose speakers too, IMO not worth it.

Actually, both systems are non-Bose, so I'm not worried about the speakers. I'm not trying to go from non-bose to bose, just switching head units. I think the harnesses will match.....

if it is non-bose, then it will have a built in amp, so it will power your speakers the same way your original one did. i'm 99.9% sure that nissan did not change harnesses from 1996-2001, so it should be plug and play.

one more thing - your car has the diversity antenna, so you will need to get an adapter, because in 2001 nissan switched antenna plugs to a standard motorola.
