yet another knock sensor question...

so, i bought a code reader and it told me that my knock sensor was broken. i could replace it but i have heard what a pain in the *** it is to do that. is it worthit to do it, what would change if i replaced it? do they usually break around 100k or just mine?

Yeah mine broke around 100k. You should definitely replace it. It will it make a major diference in performance and give better fuel economy. It's really not that hard. Read the FAQ, it has links to the two good KS install instruction pages and some modifications to the procedures.

I don't know about the others but it was damn-near impossible to replace mine as the bolt was screwed so tight. And I'm no slouch either... I almost took the intake manifold apart to do it I was getting so frustrated.

if you've got an elec. multimeter, you can test the resistance of the KS somehow to determine what the problem may be.
i just went ahead and replaced mine when i found the 03-04 code.
i thought it wasn't too bad to get out with the universal flex socket- only lost skin on 2 knuckes putting the new one in.
