Best looking finish for Altezza Taillights on a Gold Max

This Saturday I take posession of a 98 Gold Max SE. I am thinking of dressing it up a bit. I intend to get some clear corners for the front and I am thinking of some Altezzas for the back. My first instinct is to go with the chrome finish but I know the people here have probably seen many combinations. What do you all think?

Is Ebay a reasonable source for Altezzas? Does anyone have specific experience with any of the dealers there that they can recommend them or warn me about them?

Yes Ebay is a reasonable source, but get the Gen 2's. They look better.

When I first read this I thought you were a 4.0 gen but now that I realize your 98 I definitely recomend R/C's. If I had the option I would. I'm contemplating getting the CF trunklid that has recently been produced and 4.5 R/C's but thats 650 so....

Definitely red/clears over the altezzas.
They look a lot better.
Just look at Optimus' car.

I bought the Altezzas off eBay. I installed them, promptly replaced them with the stock headlights after one day, then hit the GD forums to get a set of red/clears.

Do something different...open the altezzas and paint them body color or something...or red like one of the orgers did.

But yeah Red-Clears are much cleaner looking than the tacky altezzas...

It seems I’m on my own here. I went with Altezzas. And I think that they look great on my Pebble Beige max. I bought them from SWA (that’s before I discovered the wonders of eBay).

It’s all what you want though. It doesn’t matter what everyone else says—if I went with the majority of the opinions here, I’d have plain red-clears or something like that.

Where can I snag a set of these Red/Clear's? (and for a decent price IF possible)
E-bay seems to be infested with Altezza's only... Thanks!

where can i get those cans of nightshade paint? i'm thinking of tinting the lenses on my '95 since getting red/clears is pretty much out of the picture, and i'm going back and forth between tinting and altezzas.

Just go with the red/clears...those are probably the cleanest looking taillights ever. You could even do the DTM later to them.

It doesn't matter what car it looks like...altezzas are tacky and red-clears are clean.

Carbon Fiber Altezzas look very nice IMO. I dont so much like Chrome ones but they look ok. I would rather have carbon Fibers than red/clears anyday personally.

i say gen 2's. i went from red/clears to gen 2's. every maxima owner i pull up next to 3rd 4th and 5th gen at a gas pump come over and ask where i got them, and ask if they can see them with the brakes on. i love gen 2's esecally when i push in the petal and the cars behind me look like they are om fire.

you ppl need to just pull the bulbs on the corners of the red/clears, dont try to put a red bulb in there it always looks pink unless its LED, theres 2 examples on this thread, just unplug them...

Wow. I love these threads about tail lights. So much debate over plastic lenses. But I gotta agree. Red/clears are great. I just put mine on a week ago. I also got clear corners in my trunk that I plan to install eventually. for red/clears!
