Another problem with my Indiglos...

Ok first time my friend helped me install it, the copper of the red power wire was just wrapped around the metal prong on hte tailight fuse. This worked perfectly, I was able to dim and brighten the indiglo gauges with the little control box they sent with it.

Only problem was that I kept blowing hte taillight fuse. 3 times in 10 minutes tonight! I bought soem 20 amp fuses and replaced the 7.5 amp fuse and I started smelling some burning plastic...the power inverter was overheating.

So went back to my friend and he wired the indiglos to the dimmer. Thats fine and all but I like the gauges on full brightness, now that they are hooked up to the dimmer when I brighten the gauges the rest of my dash lights dim and vice versa. When they are at max brightness like I want, the dash gauges are just completely off!

What can I do to control the gauge brightness with the control box they sent..but NOT blow fuses every few min?

You should put back the 7.5 amp fuse back in. You risking burning up the wires if something shorts out. Have you tried tapping into the dimmer switch thats on the right hand side of the dash?

Yeah I put the 7.5 fuse back in...all my friends that I called said it would be fine putting a 20 amp fuse in there..apparently they didnt know what they were talking about.

Its tapped into the dimmer switch right now...everytime i use that dimmer switch to brighten the dash the gauges dim, vice versa...
