Any tips on pulling out the PCV valve to check it? Is it alright to use pliers, or pry it out w/ a screwdriver, or will that crack it? I can't get a good grip on it w/ my bare hands...not much room to work there.

If I'm going to the trouble of inspecting it, should I just go ahead and replace it? Seems like a smart move since its such a cheap part.

 

be careful with hose it breaks very easy like i did with mine

 

The PCV is connected to a short rubber hose which in turn connects to a small metal pipe that runs up over the intake manifold. Follow that pipe up and remove the screws holding it down. This will give you more room to work with. Pull the hose off the valve. Now grab the valve with some pliers and just wiggle it back and forth while pulling up at the same time.

Should pop right out.

Just go ahead and replace it.

 

definately watch the hose. mine fell apart like it was nothing.

 

It's a LOT easier to take it out than it is to put it back in.

It may be easier if you rub some engine oil on it. And Doug, just replace it man, it's like 4 bucs.
