I have a 96 se and have had this problem for about a year now> it has 220k miles on it. The car seems to jerk in between first and second gear. After that it doesnt have a problem until it hits 40 miles per hour and then it sort of has a rattling jerk, kind of simultaneous for about 3 or 4 seconds until i pass 42 mph. I took it to Nissan and they said it was the engine mount. Howeer, i took it to another private mechanic and he said to get the whole tranny replaced. I am a bit confused as to waht the problem really is or if there is actually two seperate problems>> Someone told me to replace the strut mount to get ride of the rattleing jerk but nobody can seem to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. any help>>????

 

Get another opinion. Sounds like a transy problem to me.

But Im not your mechanic so get a second opinion.
