He has the stock wheels so that why i said it that way. If you mesure from the ground the thickness of the tire messes up the measurement. Also same size tires are not all the same size....especially when they are worn. A 215/55/16 from Yokohama is not the exact same as one from Falken.

exactly, thats why you dont mess w/ the wheels. from fender to ground is the only consistant measurement...

The only way to do a true measurement of the drop is to do a before and after from the ground. It takes out the variables of the wheel and tire size.

Sprints handle pretty good but if you're taking a corner at higher speeds there is little play in the spring rate so if you hit a bump, there is a bottoming out effect and a slight loss of control.

Maxima99SEbose:

This month I'm fixing all the mechanical stuff and doing maintenance work on it (tune up, etc..) then sometime in July or early Aug. i'll have the front and rear re-painted, my mother knows of a body shop near her work that can do the bodywork cheap

now I'm having starting problems (thanx a lot, Joe (my brother) ), on a cold start the car cranks like it's dead but when it's warmed up it'll start just fine so when I take it in for maintenance i'll have that checked out & i'll let you know how that goes, + all 4 tires need to be replaced ... oh yeah did I forget to mention there's a huge crack in the windshield extending from the driver side to the passenger side? I'll let you and everyone on here know how the restoration goes

eventually i'll mod the thing, I already have clear corners and PIAA headlights and foglights still in thier boxes so that's a small start there

Sorry to thread hi-jack but whoever is talking about wanting to race a Northstar V8 and being so confident in beating it has got to be kidding. There is no way you will not get your a ss handed to you...I've run my friends Seville up to 90.

you'd need some serious mods (supercharger or turbo, nos, etc) to go up against a Northstar V8 engine, other than that, as Ludacris said, don't even bother

No wonder you lost so easily. You're an auto with barely any performance mods. A lightly modded (intake + y-pipe) 5-speed should take care of one with a good driver.

I know mag times don't mean much but for comparison's sake i found the 2001 Seville STS runs 0-60 in 6.4 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.8 seconds.

It's not the quarter mile time that is important in this case, it's the trap speed. Heavily modded Supras may be in the 12s but their traps are at insane speeds meaning the car is barely getting into its powerband.

The Northstar is a highway monster with TONS of passing power. I really doubt adding 10-15 hp at teh wheels will make the difference, being a stick wouldnt help beat it either. From 0-50 we were more or less even, its above that where he pulls like a bat out of hell. It's like he was spraying or something. BTW this was in my Dad's 5th gen which has better highend than the 4th gen.

Ummmm...ok. Was the 5th gen auto too?

*Edit* Just checked your site and it's a stock GLE ( ), which a 4th gen 5-speed with I/Y would dust...

And since we're on the subject, what does the Seville STS trap?
