Creaking on rear passenger side 99 SE Limited

There is an annoying creaking sound coming from the rear passenger side of the car when stopping and going. Also when someone gets out of the car on the passenger side. We've taken it into a mechanic once, and they seemed to fix the problem, saying it was a dried out bushing or something. Can anyone help here? I'd like to find out what could be causing the problem so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about to our mechanic. I'd hate to have a bushing needing replacement and end up having some *** of a grease monkey sell me a whole new rear end for the car.

hmm..the fact that it does it when someone gets out of the back seat makes me think suspension.

Have you checked the rear strut? Maybe it needs replacing.

Park the car on level ground and give that corner a good push down and let it go. It should come up nice and smooth and not bounce up and down.

bushings do tend to squeak every know & then. You should make it a habit to lube your suspension bushings every once & a while. It will make them last a lot longer & prevent them from rotting. Just get under your car with a good penitrating spray & hit your bushings really good. that should keep the annoying creaks from returning.

JPMax - There's no bouncing or anything.

And the dealer I bought it from says that the first time I took it in for the squeak, he lubed the bushings. Will a rotting bushing squeak like that? If it IS rotting, then he just greased it up real good to get me out of his hair.

Long story short, I bought the car used, a day after I bought it, took it back for the squeak. They did something to fix it (lubed it up like a saturday night ho, I guess) and a week later it's squeaking again.
