check suspensions

How does one actually check car shocks? The bouncing method does not seem to work well for me.

You take them out and push them in by hand. If they go in easy I think it means they're done.

You could also check if there was any leakage out of the strut. Or you could check the springs for cracks in the spring coating. That would mean that the shocks are giving out.

Thanks folks, after I installed the fstb and rsb, if felt better but now I does not feel as good compare to the upgraded handling which it was about one year ago. Could it be that I am used to the upgraded handling. I car has 40K on it. What do you folks think?

It appears to be a lot of work to remove the suspension system, which I do not have the space to do.

Checking for cracks in the spring coating? What is spring coating? Do I need to remove something?
