Help: Buying Decision

I posted this on the I30 forum but want to know Maxima drivers thoughts as well.

I am debating whether or not to keep my weary 1995 Maxima and put some work into like a paint job, replace the non-working Bose stereo, and some other upgrades. Or my other choice would be to trade that in for a 2000 I30t that i would be getting for a very good deal because my dad is friends with the main manager at the dealership. im not aware of exactly how good of deal although i will likely know in the next day or two, but i imagine it would be sub $10g's with the trade in of the 95max.

the I30t has 75k and my maxima has 133k. Do you think it is worth paying for the i30, in which i would have to make monthly payments or just keep the max which i own. i want leather which the i30 has and my max does not. plus i wouldnt have to pay money for new paint, stereo, rims, etc. I suppose this is more my decision but what i'm looking for is people to either talk me into it or convince me it's not worth the extra money and i should keep the max.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the matter as i find it harder and harder to make any kind of major purchase decision now a days without consulting the good people of the internet. THANKS.

all personal choice dude...

my personal choice is to keep my Max, because I own it outright, rather than
making payments!!! That money goes right into my pocket!!! Honestly, one of
the biggest mistakes young ppl make (not sure how old you are, I'm just saying)
is spending big $$$ on a car, and then they have little $$$ for other things.

mind you, my Max is FULLY loaded, and it sounds like you want an upgrade...

A quality paint job, rims audio etc. will run you at least a few grand (mostly for the paint job)... If you'd be happy driving the car with some new rims and a new audio setup - there are cheap ways - you can get rims/tires for 400 bucks or so from the for/sale classifieds here, you can pick up a replacement bose HU for 100-150 here or on Ebay... - so for 500 bucks, you have audio and new rims... that leaves the paint- which if I were you, I would just pass on... if you are determined to paint etc. if you keep the car, then it makes more sense to just get the I30 - since you can put the 2000-3000 bucks in addons you'd have to put on this car, towards the new car... and take a small loan to cover the difference..
