Insurance offered me this for my wrecked max.....

Hi, thnaks to all for your opinions on my wrecked max and possible replacements thus far but I have one other opinion to ask. The insurance guys offered me $5650 for my wrecked '96 Maxima GLE LOADED with everything in spotless condition (before the wreck anyway *sniff*.) IN the wreck I lost my audio equipment, my nice NGK coppers, Silverstars and my clear corners that were BRAND NEW IN THE TRUNK WAITING TO BE PUT ON! I told him I would take 7k and not much less because of tags, taxes and my lost audio/aftermarket stuff. I thought 7k was a good counteroffer. Once again, opinions?

Boy did you make out like a bandit, I don't think a '96 could have gotten that much retail a year ago. Not sure what NGK coppers has to do with anything, you feel the insurance co. should compensate you for that???

How many miles? That price isn't that bad, but see if they can offer you $6000. Go print out some high priced 96 Maximas that are for sale at your local dealer and fax it over and say that $5650 is not enough to buy that 96 that's for sale Give them a lecture on how the money they give you is supposed to pay for a replacement of a similar 96 Max with similar mileage. They'll probably give you a few hundred dollars more (hopefully)

What's the mileage? In any condition asking $7k for a 96 is WAY too much. I have a 96 with 101k and I doubt I can get $5.5 for it. If they give you $6k be happy.

Oh yeah, I know I won't actually GET 7k for it but it seemed like something to say. My max has 118k on it. (Had anyway.) I found the maxima I want and it's $6363. I bet I can talk them down some. Here's a link to the one I want:

The guy said the tranny was replaced a few thousand miles ago w/ new clutch etc. Should that be a plus or a minus? And what do you guys think would be a good offer?
