Angel eyes anyone?

I was thinking about doing this mod to my existing stock housings. I read the FAQ, and it seems like a fairly easy mod. Does anyone have them in the stock housings with stock bulbs? All I have seen is the 5th gen guys with theirs and a few 4th gen guys with projectors and the angel eye around that.

I'm wondering if the heat from the bulbs will melt the acrylic over time. The FAQ shows the rings being installed on a plastic cover over an aftermarket projector system. Also, how did you attach the rings to the housing?

Thanks a lot,
drew

I've only seen them on max's with projectors (still in stock housings though). I don't know if it would look good on stock headlights. How would you even attach them? Don't they normally get attached by jamming them into the circular projector housings?

Geo I've been admiring your HID setup for a long time. Did you have someone do it or did you do it all yourself? How much time, labor, and money did it take? Thanks.

mmk, so let me explain.... my angel eyes are hot, i get compliments all the time for them, but due to the leds i used, they are not as bright as i wished, but they get the job done at night, anyways, i used 1100mcd leds, i suggest using at least 8000mcd, my new ones will be 13000mcd, i want these things to shine! anyways i have pics but they do not do them justice at all. i used this website
http://students.washington.edu/ashis...gel%20Eyes.htm to make them and to place them inside, after removing the headlight cover, i went to the pantry and tried to find a soup can that fit inside with about 1/2inch to spare, after finding that i shaped the angel eyes and while still a bit pliable, i placed them inside the housing and made sure they fit, i then used fish tank sealant (because its clear) to glue them inside, note they only touch on the top and bottom not the sides, they are placed about halfway into the housing. enjoy, i pride myself in being the first to do this, and im very satisfied with the results so please, give this 17 year old some credit! lol, thanks.

I bought the parts off ebay and did the install my self. As far as money it cost me alot cause I had to keep buying parts till I figured the whole thing, but if I had to do it today I would say it would cost $400-500. As far as time it can be done it a day, but getting them aimed is the hard part I had to take the assemblies apart three time till I got it right.

And as for labor its not that hard as long as you are conformable with a dremel and wiring. But you always have the option of Hidtech.com, they have done a maxima and it would cost $300 for the labor.

How did you attach them to headlight housing? Did it screw up the actual lights or anything? Thanks.

That's what I want to know... nobody has answered this question. aspec0002 said he put some in his 95 housings, so I assume that they haven't been affected by the heat.

has anyone attempted this since? I want to make some but i want to know if it will be noticeable. It seems the reflective shield will cause a glare. Is there a way around this other than a projector?

heres a little bit better pic, with my strobes going too. i dont know about anyone else, but seeing angel eyes in pictures doesnt do my car justice, its more or less something you need to see firsthand pulling up behind you at a stoplight.

Hey jdm, which auction did you win on eBay?? I'd like to pick up some angel eyes but they're all for BMWs and civics on eBay...

If you have a link or the eBay ID of who you bought it from, that'd really help
