we were throwing the y-pipe on our buddy sherif's car and he just got his eibachs on. the tires are 235's and the wheels are 18x8's. came out pretty well, the wheel gap all around is even and these pics don't do it justice at all. thought ide share some pics with you:

hows the ride, is it ok with stock struts? im about to lower with H&R's on stock since the drop is fairly small...

 

it's not extremely comfortable. when the springs compress all the way such as going over a speedbump, even very slowly, it is a very odd feeling. not extremely comfortable cruising over a hacked up road either. cornering also does not feel like it improved at all.


if i were you i would jump in the group deal for the kyb gr2's for 230 bux, thats just my opinion after riding on that setup (stock strut/eibach).

 

thanks man, but the H&R's are (from what i read) a lot softer than the eibachs, but still I guess the ride wouldn't be too good with stock shocks...

i have thought about gettin some 18's too and lowering it with some maxspeed springs....is it really necessary for aftermarket struts?

 

the ride isnt terribly aweful but from everything ive read your stock struts will not last long at all.

 

From what I understand, Eibachs and H&Rs are very different although they're a similar size drop. Eibach Prokit springs for the Maxima are stiff, they have a high spring-rate, where as the H&Rs have a more softer spring rate (while still being noticably higher than stock).

 

I have the Eibach's on stock struts and 18's. I actually prefer the ride and I do think that it stiffened up the suspension for better cornering. If nothing else, I don't get as much body roll and the car doesn't have that floaty feeling anymore. Also, during a hard launch, the car doesn't stand up on it's butt and then come backdown again. It get's almost immediate traction. This of course means that I have stage at a little bit lower of rpm or else I sit there and spin. I think it was a big improvement overall.

P.S. My stock struts are fine and i've had this setup for about a year and a half to two years now. I drove this car from texas to Alaska on this setup also! From what I understand, I am lucky on the struts.

so if i get springs on stock struts the would it be better (i know it won't be GREAT! ) to get a softer spring or stiffer? (eibach or h&r for examples)

 

I had intrax on stock struts and the ride was "ok" but the handling was crap. Struts blew. Stock struts, be it se, gxe, or gle cannot handle any drop. Tokico HP's cant either. Gr-2 last a short while with agressive and/or stiff springs/drops. The only good struts are adjustable, all the others just cant take the aftermarket springs.

My stock struts were blown at 89K all stock, heck my friends 99 with 40k had a blown strut on stock springs.

toofast240 your struts are blown, trust me.

 

Yes SE springs are a little stiffer than GLE/GXE's it's a sport model, I'm not on 18's though I'm on 17's with eibach's stock SE struts and the ride is great, everyone's personal taste is different regarding ride and handling obviously, so far my stock SE struts have held up 6 months with no decline in ride or handling.......... and because the ride is just as I personally! like it, I'm going to see how long they hold out , you can't say stock struts blow soon after install of new springs, there are too many variables, spring age, road conditions, how the car is driven, miles on car etc. A car with 20k and new springs is going to have longer life out of his struts than a guy with 200k adding the same springs!
