Stone Racing Headers???

I just noticed this. Mr Eous and anyone else, please point me to the thread where this was discussed. If the HP/TQ gains are really that good, I'm very interested....

I have always thought that these headers look exactly like the stock ones we already have on, except ported.

They made no gains, that's why they aren't being sold. The test monkey guy, his buddy, and Noshua(seller) are the only ones who know the real numbers. Problem is that the gains were apparently so bad that Noshua told him not to reveal them to anyone.

OK, looks like they made 0HP to 5HP gains, depending on what you think the Y-pipe along gives you. 5HP for $300 and a heck of a install is not worth it IMO.

not worth of $$ if ur looking for HP, and those "5"WHP are only peak gains. total area power under the curve is just like stock.

according to ur mod list, i suggest go UDP and catback.

I have the Stone Racing Headers...I was the 2nd prototyper. I installed this myself with friends/members of DNE.

How does the following dyno graph not show gains throughout the powerband?

My opinion...Only get headers if you are looking to squeeze every single hp out of your VQ30.

is that dyno with stock y pipe vs headers+ypipe?Looks like the stone racing headers are little longer ,wider than stock + huge collector.Mr Eous, Are the headers still available seperatly? Are u auto or 5speed?

Yeah...stock y-pipe. Other mods at the time were a cone filter and midpipe...and a testpipe (lol).

I'm not sure on the availability...I tried pm'ing Nashua recently but a lot of Maxima owners bashed him so he doesn't post here anymore. I do know however that SSAUTOCHROME sells these headers on eBay. Try getting ahold of him.

(SSAUTOCHROME and Nashua are 2 seperate identities...)

I am a 5spd, btw.

the stone racing headers are ****. complete crap. they #1 arn't equal length. #2 don't add any HP worth talking about. how many times must i say this. I"V SEN THE DYNO OF JUST THE SR HEADERS ON AN AFTERMARKET Y. they are crap. cattmans are better, but ONLY BECAUSE THE Y SECTION OF THE PIPE IS EQUAL LENGTH. but the stock ones flow fine for just about everyone.

but there if you like throwing away your money. ohhh wait better yet. give me your money i'll kick you in the ***** and then you'll know what it's like to be ****ed over by a pair of headers.

i don't like nashua.
not his headers.
nor the fact he will not help the #1st tester with his EGR problems.

Is that dyno a stock dyno vs a headers and an aftermarket Y? There is no chance in hell that dyno is stock vs headers.

a man dynos a 5 speed 97 w/pr intake, stillen catback, test pipe, stillen y.

then has installed a set of stone racing shorty headers.

he dynos again and bamn. that was a waste of time...and now money.

it's a shame his egr is phucked. least he has shiny pipes under his engine...i guess...

That dyno is with aftermarket y-pipe and headers, same exact graph as on vqpower.com where they say that they are using headers with a y-pipe. So quit the BS, it ain't nice.

Torgus...regardless of your friend's situation. He got some PROTOTYPE headers installed. In prototyping there is -0- guarantee that everything is going to work fine.

Being a test subject has its downsides...if I were your friend that is still having that problem I would have taken care of it myself already.

After reading though those two threads I now know a bit more. First off since there was no dyno done comparing just the headers to just an aftermarket Y-pipe, no one knows what the headers alone are making for power. Based on some knowledgeable peoples options (Dave B) it is speculated that they make around 3-5 HP over the stock headers, and that the Y-pipe was responsible for most of the gains shown on the before/after header/Y-pipe dyno. Many in the thread brought up the good point that if you really wanted sales you would provide a dyno of the headers alone, so people would know how much they make over just an aftermarket Y-pipe, if the gains where good then many people would buy, since most already own an aftermarket Y and do not want to waste money replacing it with the full header/y-pipe combo. Maybe a dyno of the headers alone was done at some point, but only showed a small gain, so it was decided that they would not release the results or do that type of dyno on MrEous’s car. I mean honestly if you want to make money and the headers alone really do make a decent gain over stock (maybe 5-10 HP) why the hell not dyno it and prove it? In the original thread many people requested that it be done, and many said that they would buy them if the gains where decent. Really the only reason to not do it is because they do not make good gains over stock, and if a dyno was done showing that they make minimal gains then no one would buy them. But no one is buying them anyway so either way he got beat. So IMO the headers do not make good gains are not worth the $300 price or the huge install cost, just stick with a Budget Y-pipe for $190. I would still like to see a dyno of just the cattman headers alone as well, to see how much power they make over an aftermarket Y-pipe alone.

Ive got a k & N drop in filter and my auto maxima runs 8's ina 1/4 mile.
Dont belive me? Do you believe everything u read? I would stick with a reputable name like Cattman or just save your money all together. I would never buy from some ebay vendor and expect true results.

PS. i dont know this guy who posted, natasha or anyone else involved in this drama, i just thought this guy made a good point and wanted to throw in my $0.02

^^ I've seen brand new Cattman headers on eBay. I'm not able to verify 'who' the seller was but just an FYI.

No. I'm saying that the gains from the headers are BS. I don't see how he can gain 20hp with just the headers alone. That dyno looks like it's a stock run with intake vs a run with intake, Ypipe, and the headers.

! Just a little research i just did! check this site out http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/522
if u can see, MrEous' headers+ypipe+intake makes 5 more WHP and 9 more torque compared to ypipe+intake+Bpipe!! Both 5 speeds. Mr Eous, what other mods did u have,if any?? Do the cattmans make this power??Am i overlooking something?
Edit: How was the fitment for the EGR?$300 for headers alone is not that bad people..Instead of bashing i give a thumbs up for making headers compatable with our ypipes.

I wouldn't buy Cattman headers right now either because there has been no dyno comparison showing gains compared to running just a good y-pipe. The 1/4 mile data we have right now doesn't show much gain either. I'd just sit back and wait until someone does a comparison dyno before digging into a time consuming and expensive project like headers. With that said, the quality of Cattman headers is light years ahead of the Stone headers plus the Cattman's have a longer tube design which is a good thing. The longer the primaries, the better. IMO, the primaries still aren't long enough to do much good and that's probably why we aren't seeing any improvement in ET/MPH. The only headers that are worth a damn are long tube headers. I installed long tubes on an LS1 Z28 and a 5.0 Mustang those primaries are long. We're talking 25-28" before merging into the collector. Shorty headers don't make squat for power (~1-5whp) on 5.0's, 4.6's, and 5.7's, so why bother with them on a 3.0/3.5? Quality long tubes on V8s typically make 15-25whp on average. My friend's LS1 gained 35whp/40wtq with long tubes and a reprogrammed ECU. He went from 13.6s@103mph to 13.1@107mph. Look at F1 cars and take notice of the headers. The primaries on those are over 30". Unfortunately for our FWD VQs, there isn't the room to be stuffing long tubes under the hood.

stone racing made 6 more WHP and 1 Torque compared to the Cattmans. Looks like the Cattmans took away a couple horses from a ypipe alone.
This is all peak #s with the headers.Would be beautiful if it was throughout the whole rpm band.

You're not talking about the Stone headers are you? If so, I guess you never saw the flange and internal welds. I've never welded in my life and I think I could do better

the amount of $ to HP is sillyness.

the whole point of getting headers is to make your car faster, unless i'm mistaken.

sr don't
catts does but so little.
it's nice to have them availible but they are not practical.

i hope no more threads about headers come up.

i wish...

Question: what is the difference between "headers" and the exhaust manifold, or are they one and the same?
