Test pipe = CEL?

Does the CEL lamp I get after I put on my test pipe (nice one with glass packing and chrome plated) really a situation I need to address? according to the diag decode I have 3 cylinders running lean, (or a couple of other things, one of which is addressed later in the post) I can reset it and it may go 100 miles or 20 before it comes back on. If it's lean, that REALLY bothers me....BUT
I just wondered if this was a real prob. or not, the code also says it may be an exhaust leak too and I think that is more than likely what it is, as i do not think I got the dam thing sealed good enough. BUT the good thing is I can change it EASY now after breaking the nuts and bolts loose! and reassembled with anti seize! Mine sounds almost no different than stock, I can still hear the intake howl way louder than the exhaust and it's nice and quite thru all RPM ranges, been on 2 long trips, no droaning at all.....
Any help appreciated allot.

the only way to find out is to put the real cat back in. BTW test pipes are junk.....waste of money and time, bad for the environment including you and me, and they are illigal. The stock cat out flows the engine too.

only if your n/a and even then it does show very minimal gains i believe. a test pipe isnt hooked up to anything on a 97 max.. It shouldnt show a cel light.

HA I love this. why do you think there is an o2 sensor in or behind the cat? Do you think Nissan just threw in an extra one? NOOOOOOOO, I have said it befor and I will say it again. Test pipes are CRAP, unless you like a CEL. That rear o2 sensor is for monitoring the Cats efficiency. If there is not cat there, the computer wont like what its seeing the o2 sensor read and throw a trouble code. WELCOME TO OBD2.

REALLY????? you mean that the O2 sensor dosent like whats coming out of the now non existant cat? WELL DAM ME can you imagine that??????

I know full good and well WHY it dosen't like it, I want to know how to make the CEL not come on, not an explanation of WHY it's coming on. I know that if I knew the values I could cheat it, that is the kind of info I'm looking for, something you must not know anything about. or don't care about, if you are worried about emissions buy one of your honda hybrids! AND I'm Quite sure you are not running a aftermarket Y pipe, cause they remove the 2 pre cats too.

They polute much more than a car with a cat converter and they gain no power, it's a dyno proven fact. It's a waste of money. How do you know alot of them are sold? Unless you buy all of them you don't. Not alot of them are sold cause people know they are crap.

I think your O2 sensor might be bad or might have been damaged when you transfered it because they are fragile
