Electric problem I think!

I was washing my engine with a water hose. I have done it many times before with this car and with my subaru. But today was the first time that I had a problem. After finishing I turn on the car and let the engine heat up so that the excess water could evaporate and when I turn the car off. All the lights in the dash came on and stayed on even after taking the key out. I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and Still the lights stay on after reconnecting the battery. What can the problem be?
Thanks for your help.

Water in a connector someplace. Let it sit overnight and see what happens in the morning.

I forgot to mention that once I start the car. the dash lights go away. when I take the key out it beeps a few times just like when you leave the head lights on. Then the beep stops and the dash lights come on.
