Just wanted to post a question on Underdrive Pullys, Light weight Flywheels, and CATs.

I have a 95 Auto SE, Drk Green,Stillen Filter, Straight through Exhaust, and 17" Seneca Rims. I'm thinking about UDPs and Flywheel replacements

Can one gain remarkable HP increases when using a UDP and is it worth buying. And should I go with Unorthodox Racing to acquire these components?? I see they have various models.. "S, SS, R, etc."???

Also, with respects to Light Weight Flywheels, is this only applicable to Manual base Tranny.???

And finally, with a Highflow CAT, Will this application make the car sound louder than normal and will you gain considerable HP. And which one is better made for Maxima's..

I greatly appreciate any suggestions....

UDPs will yield about 3-5 hp at the most.

Lightened flywheels = forget it, it's for manuals only.

High flow cats will NOT yield alot of hp. Maybe 5-8 hp maybe? Should not make the car noiser. Just go with the Random Technology cat. It's a bolt up unit. Warpspeed might have one from Catco that's bolt up. Either is fine.

Where to get the above? Use the faq and search functions.

An underdrive pulley does not increase engine power at all. The benefit is that your car will accelerate faster just as if you threw out your spare tire and back seat. The benefit of eliminating rotating mass is greater than eliminating an equal amount of dead weight, but the principle is the same. Don't expect miracles from the UDP. It won't make a big difference.

UDP was my 2nd mod. That combined with the CAI was a big low-end improvement. Great torque but did nothing for upper end IMHO.

RT Cat made helped just a bit upper end. .1-.2sec 1/4 times (of course that might've been excitement & better driving too). Combined with y-pipe & complete exhaust I think the RT's a good investment.

Here are a few pics of the Unorthodox Racing underdrive pulley (in red) that I just shipped out: http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=12132531&f=0

The silver one is an ASP for a 300ZX (just ignore those pics :P)

as far as the cats.. it's best used in conjunction with a full catback. You won't gain much with *just* the cat. The mods go hand in hand and work best in conjunction with one another. Pointless to replace one bottleneck in the exhaust flow when it hits another.
