Cleaning the Engine Bay
Cleaning the Engine Bay
My neighbor told me that before he usually works on one of his cars, he will drive it up to our local auto wash, one of those ones where you put quarters into the machine and do it yourself. He said that you can use the tire cleaner ( i dont know what it is exaclty but its green) then just rinse it all off and it will be clean. Im thinknig about taking a trip over there tomorrow....but is it safe anyone ever hear this before...i dont want strange green stuff in my engine bay if its going to mess something up.
if you are planning on powerwashing your engine bay, make sure you cover up your alternator with something to try and keep it from getting soaked. if you hit it with high pressure water, you will fry it. i did that on my old corolla and no more than a day later the alternator crapped out on me.
the 'green' degresser doesn't spray at high pressure so it shouldn't mess anything up. spray it on, then rinse it off with the LOW pressure rinse. make sure your engine is cold before doing so!
