I Have a 97 Se i was wondering if anyone else was having problems w/ their transmission mainly the solenoid and transmission control. I've had it fixed but it still seems to me that when i go into second it thumps into it..the dealorship said there was nothing wrong with it or i must be loosing my mind

 

It seems like all Nissan automatic transmissions hesitate between gears.. especially in the 1st-2nd shift... I don't know about 4th gens but when I just got my 93, my 1-2 shift was extremely slow and lagging, my transmission died a little later and I had it rebuilt, and although it improved, it is still felt everytime it shifts, sometimes harder, sometimes softer.. but it's very noticeable.. I think Maxima automatic transmission gears are just poorly spaced or something...

There are certain upgrades that can be done to make the shifts faster, a Valve body upgrade or a Shift kit may do it, but don't expect a huge huge difference..
