Buying New Keyless Entry Remote

Hello there!!

I'm trying to buy a keyless entry remote for my 1996 5sp gxe(i think). I'm gonna buy it off ebay. the sellers always say. "check your local dealer before bidding" to match the FCC ID. so i called my local nissand dealer. and all they gave me was a part number and didn't even take my VIN #. so my question is how can i find out which one of those keys will work for my car? thank you very much for you time and replys

Do you have a keyless remote right now? If you do, buy one that looks exactly the same - it will work.. if you don't already have keyless entry (or the system installed), you'll need more than just hte remote (not trying to state the obvious).

If the red LED blinks...then you have it and it works. All you need is the remote.

No need to check anything else. I did the same thing.

Good luck - there are programming instructions available here http://home.earthlink.net/~maxfaq/ under the Maintenance tab - so don't pay more for one that includes instructions on Ebay... its very simple.

If you happen to know anyone that works at a dealership, I would recommend paying them a visit. Most dealerships that take in trades, have trouble with keys and such. Therefore, there are a lot of lost keys that don't go to anything, and also FOB's with these lost keys. I picked up 3 FREE remotes when I worked at the dealership. I did the same thing for a few of my friends. I mean, I worked at a Jeep/Chrysler dealership and we had Nissan Maxima FOBs....what were we going to use them for.

Just a suggestion....

yeah, following the procedure, the lights flash and everthing, it just won't take. Battery is good. I think I may need one of these:

Anyone know what this plugs into or where it is located?

I think so, I pretty much tried everything, numerous times. I'll get into the trunk today and see if that module is even there.

I'm still waiting n mine. i really hope i dont run into any problems. Today was a really bad day. n the afternoon i found out i had to replace breaks, control arm n both sides. taking the car out of the shop i accidently hit the corner and broke my left foglight and a very small piece of my clear conner light, and a bit of damage n the bumper. at night went down to 7/11 and hit the damn sidewalk and scratch about 2 inches of my driver side front and rear rim, i hope nothin bend. been driving for 5 years and nothin like this has EVER happen to me

What do you mean press unlock 3 times and the windows will roll down? It has nothing to do with the number of times you press it, it has to do with the duration you hold it (the unlock button). Right?

what should i do? i want this keyless entry thing.
even though i have a remote starter installed in the car already.
when i try the programming procedures- lock the dorr and put the key in and out more than six times in a second, fabooooooooo --------==the blinkers don't blink for ****.

I discovered that the module is indeed there. Still don't know why I can't get it to work. What I'm thinking is that the module probably only has the capacity for 2 or 3 remotes, the original owner may have had remotes programmed and never cleared out of there. I don't really know, but that's how it is with volvo's, you can't just keep adding remotes, you have to erase the old ones via a diagnostic tool. I'm going to try to unplug the module for a while, hopefully it will reset itself or something, then I'll try it again. This is a bit of a shot in the dark, but what the heck. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. If it dosen't work, I'll have to take it to the dealership and get them to do it.

I don 't use my keyless entry anymore cause i dropped the thing too many times and it's hyper sensitive. I'm affraid that it my unlock when I walk away while in my pocket. Used autolock instead.
