New to the forum. Need some suspension advices

hey guys .. I just regestered today.
I have a 97 White Max GXE and here are some pics:

http://members.cardomain.com/vegasmax

After I got those 18's, the car's ride turned very rough. I changed the front struts and mounts to KYB GR2s but a they've already gone BAD!!
Some friends tell me that KYB are the best and that it was the installation that messed them up. I'm planning to change all four struts and mounts soon. Do you guys have any suggestions what should I get to get the closest possible to a smooth ride? any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tokico illumina's. Read this http://maxmods.dyndns.org/index.php?MaximaHandling, and be sure to read the faqs, and welcome to the site, it's a great resource.

Nice pics.
The AGX's are good and adjustable(what you want), but they are more harsh than the Illuminas are. You will probably get a smoother ride chosing the Illuminas.

How much drop do you want to put on it?

Welcome to the .org.

They'll last. There won't be any drop, and though the handling will improve, it won't be nearly as dramatic as if you add springs to the mix. If you're set on sticking with stock ride height, maybe you should get some SE springs. They'd probably be pretty cheap in the for sale forum since so many people replace them. Why not do a small drop like H&R's or H-techs or something like that?

I wouldn't recommend the AGX's anymore. They're pretty harsh as I have them and it's not very smooth. I'd go with the tokico's.

The stock springs will be fine with aftermarket struts. The purpose of aftermarket struts it to be able to handle the added pressure to them, so if you're using stock springs then it'll be all good.
