Dennis,
BrianV says that you left the small red lens next to the yellow on the tails when you did the clear tail lens mod. Got any pictures? I'm undecided on whether or not to leave it or go with all clears like Brians. Thanks.

Sorry man, I don't have any pictures of my car...BrianV should have some rear shots of my car. Anyway, I left the red piece in because I don't want it looking like a Civic (no offense to Civics of course).

ok hold up now.. their are three things going on here..

1. Leaving in the red reflector but only cutting the white lens to fill up to the red reflector

William did this.

2. Leaving in the red reflector but cutting the white lens to fill up the whole bottom housing

1hotmax and I did this.

3. Taking out the red reflector and cutting the white lens to fill up the whole bottom housing.

Brian V. and NickStam did this..

so now you have 3 choices instead of 2

And if you take out the red lens I would recommend removing the bulb behind it. I think it looks better without it.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I'll be tackling this project in the near future. Want to hunt down those LEDs for the red lens and look for a yellow LED for the turn signal. Think I'm leaning toward removing the red sliver altogether like BrianV. Again, thanks for the help. I'll let you know when I get it done. Sorry don't have a digital camera to post some pics

I hope I don't sound too ignorant, but how do the LED bulbs compare to standard filament bulbs? Do these really give the kind of effect you see in the new Cadillac taillights? Are they brighter or as bright as the filament bulbs?

Thanks!
Gary

If there is a full clear taillight for the '97, your 4th option would be to get this one and then use Plasticote red paint on the red part. But as far as I know, there is only one for the '95-96 (could be wrong, being a "newbie").

they are very similar to the caddy's lights they give off a good amount of light, they glow and look real cool behind the stock red lens, the turn signal gives a fast blink because L.E.D.'s are very low wattage so it triggers the fast blink on the turn signals and it look s real cool.....I really like them and get many "what's the cool look of your tailights man" commments...they are very nice get some you won't be dissappointed.......also these lights are "clear" when off so when you do the red clear tails the turn bulb area will be clear until you put on your turn signal....amber bulbs you see the amber throught the clear plastic.....and your turn signal can be amber or red so popos won't be trppin'

Fantastic--you've sold me! Can you recommend a good priced on-line place to get 'em? And do they simply plug into your existing sockets or do you have to make additional mods?

That is how I have mine done.
The red corner piece makes it look odd, and if you take it out, take out the bulb as well, otherwise you'll be driving around at night and people will think your reverse lights are on.
