Looks like a knock off of the HKS version. If you can get it for cheap, go for it.

does is matter that each wire is only 8 gauge and not bigger? I'm not sure if they should be 4 guage or not, but seeing as how there is only one 4 gauge wire for ground in my car now, four 8 gauge wires might be enough.

what about the ring terminals/connectors? What guage wire did you use? How did you connect all the wires to the negative terminal of the batt without a distrubtion block of some kind?

I just soldered on some autoparts store terminals / 8 Gauge / Theres 3 8gauge wires comming off the 2nd negitave terminal, then I just soldered those to the other wires.

a ground wire connect the negative termal of the car battary to the chassis of the car. this basically turn the entire car into the negative terminal of the battery. maybe an electrical engineer can come in and give a better (smarter) explaination. (I am getting my EE degree but still have a year to go ).

its how all the electronics in the car get their power. The Engine Comupter, radio, HVAC, sparkplugs, etc. Everything that needs electricity in the car are connected to a ground somewhere on the car's chassis which provides the negative connection to the battery. They also have a positive connection which runs through the fuse box and then to the positive ternimal on the battery.

wires can only handle so much electricity. if the car pushes too much amps the wire will break causing electrical fire. ground wires privide basic protection from that overflow. a ground wire privides a path of least resistance for electrons to flow back to ground in case of overflow. (management information system major)

so does the ground wire in AC and DC circuits same the exact same purpose in both cases? I've been trying to find this out for about a week now, lol. thanks

When you upgrade your grounding wires, you usually get a better (Smoother) idle, better Mpg (slightly), and a little more power (especially if your grounds are already jacked). This is usually why people upgrade thier grounds other than engine bay dress-up, and it's so cheap I wonder why everyone doesn't just go do it, it's well worth it.

There was an awesome write-up someone did. Ahhh... Here it is William Gay's Hyperground Tutorial

As far as what the hyperground kit does, it's just adding more surface area for current to flow back to the negative terminal of the battery. The 4 ga wire would be better, but the difference between 8 and 4 is very negligible. It will never be noticed. I have 8ga on mine.

The big thing that needs to be done is that when you install this, take some sandpaper and hit every surface you bolt a terminal to with the sandpaper. For some reason, the connectors that are currently on the Max are bolted to a PAINTED surface! Also, put some dielectric grease on the connectors to aid against any rust or chemical reactions that may occur over time.

thanks a lot for the link.

One more Q. If i were to make the grounding kit myself, how would I get all those wire connected to the negative terminal. its almost like I have to buy one of the kits on ebay just for the round plate looking connector.

Ummm... You could make one

Just find some scrap metal or hit up home depot or lowes. You would need a drill or drill press would be even better and something to cut it with. Just drill the holes big enough for the size bolts your gonna use.

You could also go to advance and get on of the battery terminals that has a wingnut on top of it with a bolt coming out of it. Then just place all the connectors from the ground wires on that bolt (one on top of the other) and tighten the wing nut. This would be the easiest way to do it.

I bought mine off eBay for the simple fact that I really didn't feel like messin with it. You'd only end up saving $10 or so unless you already had all the parts leftover from a previous sound system install.

Good luck
