Y-pipe Questions {please help}
Y-pipe Questions {please help}
hey i was looking into some y-pipes but i dont know what kind or if i should even get it. I was looking into a WARPSPEED and a budget-whats the big differences between them if anything and about how much for those. Also i was wondering if this is a good mod to put on with 130kmiles-if it will mess with anything- Lastly i havent even gotten under the car yet in like the last few days to check out the condition of anything else but do you suggest swapping anything else out if and when i put in the new y-pipe in thanks in advance
i'd go ahead and get it, best bang for the buck. if u call up warpspeed u can still get it for $160 shipped for the next couple weeks. i just bought one and i have 116k. u might swap out your oxygen sensors with it if u haven't. hope this helps
Warpspeed is good quality. I have had one for a while now. They don't develop a rattle in the flex, they just hit some Maximas cross members. All you have to do is bend this a little. Look for a thread on this, as I have not had to do this myself. A lot of people, like myself, never have troubles with Warpspeed y-pipes. I love mine.....tons of extra power.
I would not replace the O2 sensors unless they need it. They can be pretty expensive, and they will malfunction (or throw a code) when they are bad. Until then, just use what you have. Be careful not to mess one up when you put on the y-pipe though.
You should have nothing to worry about with your car having that many miles. You will still love the power.
I would also suggest not replacing the stock cat, unless it is just rusted through. Replacing with an aftermarket ("high-flow") cat does not even add any hp to speak of.....maybe .5hp.....
I would also leave the stock resonator on there.
What you might want to do though is just pay like $50 or so at a local muffler shop and get them to custom bend you some 2.5" piping back from the resonator to the muffler(you can keep stock.....as the aftermarket ones might add 1hp....and that is being generous with the figures).
This total.......y-pipe and b-pipe should give you a total of like 15-20 more hp. That is good for just over $200.
Put the y-pipe on yourself, if you can. It is not that easy, and you will like that you did that for yourself.
Hope this helps...
