Tien S or Ground Control
Hey guys,
I dont know what to get. I cant decide between Tein S drop springs or Ground Control Coilovers. The coilovers are used but come with a new set of springs. I really dont know what is better or what to get. Maybe you guys could help me out!
thanks
Sean
EDIT: I was looking and i found Sprint Springs. It wont allow me to add this to the poll

I don't know if it's the angle of this pic or what but the drop does'nt look even.
Looks like it's lower in the front to me. I'm in the market for a new drop too. The Eibachs I have are'nt low enough for my taste. I'm leaning towards the sprint/illumina set up myself. Though I was flirting with the idea of GCs for their adjustability.

Get the Tien S's.. as a matter of fact theres a set for sale in the 4th gen forums by araffio...
Ground Controls suck big time. They are very stiff and dont extend the struts height... so your basically riding on normal struts with very very stiff springs that just go over the strut, its not a true coil over system.

Whats the finger gap with S techs?

Ant,
What size of drop do the B&Gs have? hows the ride? I think im gonna call and tell the guy i dont want the coilovers from what you all say. I was thinkin about it just becuase of the adjustability but from what ive been hearing i dont think i want them anymore.

B&G's are 1.6 all around... but they seem a little lower. If you want good coilovers get Tein basics or Magic's...
I'd say get S techs with Illuminas... I'm getting ready to get some Illuminas.. my rear GR 2's are completely blown to bits and pieces

grr... did you ahve 2 say sprint. Now you made the choice even harder. Im not sure now! I think GCs are out of the question. How do the sprints ride compared to the S Tech? Which has a lower drop?

those pics of the Stechs dont look very low at all. Im guessing you want a low drop since your only cosidering the lowest dropping springs. Id get the coilovers. If i were you Id sell the KYB's and either get the the TEIN complete coilovers or try to get the D2 coilovers when the start sellin them.

I have seen both in person, and I can honestly tell you that sprints are lower than S-Techs. Tein Advertises a 2.2 in the front, but it looks more like 1.8 to me. I did the finger gap measure, and I was able to get almost 3 fingers so 2.5 fingers in there, back when I had my sprints I was not able to get more than 2 fingers in the gap. I bet that if you pair the sprints with the Illuminas they will ride really good. I'm actually considering going back to the sprints, and I think I will seeing how good they look.
BTW: I have a 50lbs sub box in my trunk so it made them sit even

gc's are stiff blah blah blah, they ride to rough blah blah blah, in the real world blah blah blah
im tired to hear people rag on gc's. i have them. i love them. i would never get lowering springs. either once you get old u tend to complain about stuff like this. this is my take on this, if this is gonna be an upgrade in your handling then nothing your handle better then linear springs( coilovers). if you want to lower your car mostly for looks and dont really care about the handling aspect and/or dont want to spend alot fo cash then go for springs. get wat u want since its your money. gc's ride rough because people get them and then drop their car all the way to the ground and then complain when its rough. i have mine lowered a little lower then lowering springs and its a great ride. also if u do want to get gc's buy a better shock then the kyb since they dont handle to coilovers to well.
will

You guys suck! I was hoping to get a unamious vote for something. Its either between the S Tech or the Sprints. I want the lowest drop with springs. I think the GCs will effect my ride bc i will have them slammed. Springs suit me fine i just want the lowest drop. Has anyone owned both S Tech and Sprints? If so how do you like them. I live in MD in the city and roads arnt to bad but some road can get rough. I think we are planning on moving to Orange State in the next year. Im riding on 245/45/18s. Is this going to be a problem?
Thanks again,
Sean

Hey guys,
I think im going with the Sprint drop. Seems to be the cheapest and has the lowest drop. I talked to a guy from SWA and he recommended the Sprints. He said thats what he has on his car and he love them. Well thanks for the help!

i think im going with sprints! They look sweet on 1fstmax's car. How will they ride on AGXs? I like the sprints because there cheaper and its a lower drop.
1FSTMAX how does it ride with the rears being cut? I found some for sale and they are cut.
