AC motor speed - varies on its own.

Help! In blistering NC sun this weekend, my A/C's fan motor suddenly reduced speed unexpectedly, even though I had it set at max speed. While playing with the fan button, I noticed the fan did change speed for each setting, but each of those speeds was about a 1/4 of the normal speed for that setting. It stayed that way for a while, then slowly built back up to full speed. We were sweating big time until it got back to normal.

Any ideas? This was on a long trip and the fan had already been running about four hours when it happened. Do I need a new fan motor? New buttons?

Thanks in advance.

Hmm I dunno, I am assuming you have the digital cliomate control like me. if you want to have total control over the fan, you must hit the mode button until iot says Manual. You probablyl know this- btui hey its worth shot. Good luck!
