Exedy vs ACT
#2
i have exedy and it doesnt grab as well as my ACT used to. It cant even handle the power of my S/C if i do a hard shift into second...either its just not strong enough or my long months of T/O bearing issues slowly rocked my clutch....

I've installed both. I put a Fidanza/Exedy combo in my car and could not be happier. I installed a Fidanza/ACT combo in another 92se and the pedal pressure is alot higher and it tends to be chattery, however he doesn't mind and is happy with it.
They use the same disc and TO bearing, the ACT just has a modified the pressure plate.

yeah def better than stock.. sounds like the exedy is a little softer around the edges but gets the job done. ACT is def a beast of a clutch it can more than handle NA and boosted applications. Exedy seems to be NA only.

ahem, i have been pushing 300+ hp past my exedy clutch and it holds up and hits shifts very nicely. it is also very driveable. engagement is not too soft nor too hard. teamed with a fidanza flywheel and LSD this makes the car a dream to drive.

act is better, it grabs alot better then excedy. Maybe it's just with civics but I've installed clutchmasters, act, and excedy on the cars with pretty much the same engine. Excedy felt weaker and I think the guy is going to change it out soon, maybe because he can't drive don't know. I like ACT better.

Ive heard many ACT owners claim that the clutch is just too much for cars not pushing major HP and killing trannies.
This is hearsay, Ive never owned a ACT clutch.
I do own a EXEDY Stage 1 and it grabs plenty for me.
In fact, I hate to actaully just let it go because when it grabs at high rpms its so hard it feels real bad for my tranny and my axles im sure. Tha car just jumps.
I ahve a Stillen flywheel as well.
Maybe the reason it doesnt grab well for some is improper breakin.
