New Idea for Rear Passenger Courtesy Lights

New Idea for Rear Passenger Courtesy Lights
For those of you who may be a bit jealous of BMWs and other cars that have rear reading/courtesy lights for the passengers in the back seat, I have the solution. I have created a simple, clean and professional way to add courtesy lights to your car. I have finished the project on my car, and I have pictures but no website to host them (yet). Anyway, if you are interested in this thread, reply or PM me for additional details.
P.S. The project takes about 6-8 hours for the semi-experienced Maxima owner.

send the pics to SButryn@comcast.net I'll host them...
Props for a unique idea but I don't really care about my passengers, especially the ones in the back.

I have children, and eventually they will be old enough to read. When we go on trips, I thought this would really help them.
I will soon get some pics of the "night" look, but they are pretty sweet. You can go to your local salvage yard and pull off whatever courtesy lights you want for this install. There are switches that control each lamp, then a master switch up front (LED is lit when switch is closed) so that I can control the lights (helps keep kids at bay if they start playing around with the lights too much). On the rear switches, I installed two blue LEDs with a potentiometer that allows the LEDs to be bright or dim, according to my desires (potentiometer installed after pics were taken). The LEDs are wired to the rear tail light wire so that they come on automatically with the first turn of the light stick. With the 500 Ohm potentiometer, maximum resistance dims the lights to null.
I like it, alot, really--but that is just me! Good luck!

Thanks, I now have a website as well that posts the pics (with a bit of description). Thanks, again Maxed.

I forgot to mention that I would be happy to do a write-up if there are any questions about wiring, removal of panels, etc. This mod is not terribly difficult, and it certainly is unique as far as Maximas go. Anyway, FYI.

Flush-mounted would be ideal, just didn't have time to get them. The nice thing about the way it is done here is that flsuh-mounted lights can be added if I want to later, since the hole I cut is small enough. If anyone knows of any that would look professional, please advise. Otherwise, I didn't spend time to figure out how to curve the lip around the edge so that a flush mount did not look second-hand.
Any ideas?
