i remember them posting saying it was automatic and nothing done to the engine? but i was watching the movie, and when the part comes up for the Max, it sounds like he drops the clutch, and smokes the ish out of the tires and shifts into 2...

i found some info on it:

The car was purchased new in 1999 as a daily driver. After undergoing some mild modifications, the car went under the knife for a complete makeover in the Spring of 2000. Dodge Viper GTS blue paint was sprayed over the Stillen-enhanced body. With a custom reverse-mount hood (like a Viper), the car is currently the most modified Maxima known.

For performance modifications, the car went to the leader in Nissan performance, Stillen, who added their supercharger kit and other accessories, including a Formula one braking system from AP Racing. The car produced 221 hp to the wheels. A Veilside carbon fiber wing and Bomex side mirrors from Japan round out the car’s exterior styling.

For the interior, Trimmasters provided a one-off blue carbon fiber dash kit and Stitchcraft provided the upholstery work. A $20,000 In car electronics system comprised of extensive Audio/video component was installed as a Clarion/JBL/Infinity joint venture with the latest offerings from each company finding their way into the car. The car’s three huge JBL W12Gti woofers weigh more than 20 lbs. each with a special support system needed. The car’s five JBL amplifiers produce more than 4000 watts and required two additional batteries to support the electrical load.

Other lighting and trim accessories were provided by Toucan/Ractive/Eurolite and can be found throughout the car. The engine compartment was dressed by Hose Techniques. Motegi Ro_Ja wheels were produced just for this car and custom suspension work was done by Ractive.

A nitrous system and custom roll-cage are in the works now.

This car is used in the making of the movie The Fast and The Furious due out June 22, 2001. The car was used by the character "Vince", played by Matt Schulze, a bad guy in the movie.

The car was used in a few action and chase sequences. The car’s performance mods were performed by Stillen in preparation for the movie. One sequence in the movie, a fight scene between "Brian" and "Vince" damaged the quarter panel and doors. The studio repaired and restored the car to perfection.

The car is slated to appear in a variety of magazines, none of which could be shot prior to delivery to Universal Pictures for its’ movie appearance. The car’s audio construction has taken the last two months and the car was completed only days before the Hollywood Premier of the movie.

The car is valued at $75,000.

personally that's not worth 75,000. i would have kept the system simple and the graphics to none. weight reduction not addition. and turbo not supercharged. that's my oppinion. but it looks nice.

I think the best thing about that car was the hood (way it opened) and the exhaust.

i agree with you ogparjay. id prefer to be all go and no show for that much money. or just buy an m5. but it does look nice minus all the decals. i cant stand that. i love the clean look, which is why my car is debadged, and i painted the chrome emblem in my grille.

hey a remember reading about the pace car before. my question is.
was tyhe pace version evere released or sold any where inthe world?

they mentioned they increased the HP & tq
Horsepower increased from: 190 to 240
Torque increased from: 205 ft-lbs to 256 ft-lbs

here are the upgrades. now what makes for that much HP.

Performance:
* Ported and polished cylinder heads (how much?)
* Forged J&E pistons (teflon coated) (how much?)
* 11.7 compression ration (stock= 10.1) (how to change this?)
* Uses 116 octane fuel ???? (can I have some)
* Billet high performance camshafts (ins't this good only for S/C or Turbo)
* Extrude Honed intake manifold -> what is this (MEVI?)
* Bored out throttle body (isn't this only good for turbo?)
* Stillen hi-flow intake system (CAI?)
* Ported exhaust manifold (only for turbo?)
* Stillen cat-back free flow exhaust (easy, exaust system)
* Stillen remapped engine computer (ECU upgrade?)

The car was owned by Craig Lieberman and local SoCal'r he used to bring it out to meets, but he sold the car around a year or so ago. He now has a new M3 and a R34 Skyline. Here are some pics he sent me before the movie came out.

http://dmontzmax.maximaclubca.com/Pics%20from%20Craig/

BTW: Most of the performance stuff listed is BS, the only thing it had was a Stillen S/C set up with the pulley that comes with the set (7psi?), Intake, Exhaust.

When he sold the car, he sold it for $20,000 that was in the 2001/2002. There is no way in the world you can get $75k for any Maxima, no matter what it has done to it.

They must have modified it some after the movie, because it didn't have that butt-ugly tail in the movie.
I remember thinking to myself that I liked the maxima with no spoiler.

It also didn't have that many stickers on it. It was cleaner looking in the movie than that.

The acual Maxima had no wing, plus the exhaust came out of the side of the bumper..

Also did they have 2 identical maximas? The link in dmontzmax's post, there is the blue max with tan interior, and then there's another blue max, with black interior??

So, I was not just making this all up....there was a different looking one when they actually shot the film. Good. Because this picture looks more like the one in the movie....minus the wing:

240 sounds about right for an automatic with the stock SC pulley (about 6 psi boost).

He probably added the SC so he could keep up with stock Maximas after adding all that extra weight from the stereo system.

If I remember he ran it at Palmdale 2,200' elevation, for those who have never been it is HIGH DESERT and hot...110-115 in the summertime and dry. When they ran it they had a car load, Paul Walker and some other cast members, it ran a 14.8 5 People, auto Maxima, I guess it is expected.

I would like to also add what has already been said, that the car is way too flashy. I didnt know a Max was in the Fast and the Furious.

but for $75,000 and it only puts out 221HP? Damn, plus its quarter mile should have been better, but it must have been all that extra weight added to the car.

The Bluye Paint looks nice but DAMN, $5,200 for the paint? you could buy another Max for that price.

I love the Maxima but thats is just waay too much money to put into the Max.

but glad to see a Max was in the movie.

Yep... yep.... agree.... $75K for to get only 7.x sec for 0-60 and 14.x sec for 1/4. Hmmmm...... I guess I am smarter in spending my $75K then....

I just read that it put out 265HP at 6100 RPMS and it's 1/4 mile was 14.5 at 98mph. The top speed was 145mph and the curbweight was 3895lbs. Not to bad for that big bertha.

Do you remember the part when they open the hood and the driver tells the other dude there is something wrong??? The kid said that he was unloading in 3rd and all he would have to do is tune the nos timer and he will be running 9's???? is he for real... why would they say some dumb shi+ like that in a major hollywood movie???
Damn he must have had a 900+ shot of juice... Im sorry but i thought that movie when it came out was really stupid. Then it got worse with the 2nd one. I think the only good thing with the 2nd was that for a few minutes there was a skyline. I hope they dont make a 3rd. if they do... i wonder what they will call it??

that freakin movie messed up the whole underground scene. gave it a messed up stereotypical nonsense hollywood style. people now think doing little modifications with the car will knocked off a second.... wtf!
