The dreaded check engine light :(

I was driving to work this morning feeling all warm and tingly inside about by max when the check engine light came on. I was scared I didnt know what it could be so I took my car to Autozone this afternoon and found out. Here are the codes.....

PO325 Knock sensor 1 circuit malfuction bank 1 or 1 sensor
PO138 bank 1 sensor 2 hight volts

I just had my new exhaust system installed and now this happens. Do you guys think the exhaust system had anything to do with the codes? Also would this be something I could fix easily or would it just be best to take it to the dealer? Thank in advance.

0304 is the DTC you would get from using the self-diagnostic mode and counting the number of blinks from the cel. The p codes are different, but correspond to the others. You could have just gotten them yourself instead of taking it to autozone.

See this sticky: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=104931

P0325 = 0304 = Knock Sensor

P0138 = 0510 = Closed Throttle Position Sensor (this is not in the thread, but in the FSM)

Those are the code reader codes. 0304 is the "blink method" code. I think I've heard the O2 problem can cause the KS. You could try replacing that first or you could test the KS (I think instructions are in the faqs. The KS isn't too bad to replace, O2's probably aren't either, but I don't really know. If you don't do it yourself don't go to the dealership. A normal mechanic will be more than qualified and much cheaper.

Actually In looking in my Haynes Manual it says

P0138 is code 0510 = Downstream Oxygen Sensor maximun voltage monitor fault.

0203 pr P0510 = is closed throtle position ( I plugged it into the decoder in the stickies just to make sure).

I think I will replace the oxygen sensor first and see what happens. Bank 1 sensor 2 is the same thing as downstream oxygen sensor right? Is this the one thats on the y-pipe? Thanks again guys

exactly, I have a 0510, and a 0512.
Are these codes tied into my knock sensor? I don't think they are but I could be wrong.
Where are all of you tying this with a KS?

Man I would hope the O2 sensor is tied into the knock sensor somehow. I really dont want to spend another hundred bucks for a knock sensor. The Nissan dealer wants $134.00 for the bank1 sensor2. Autozone cant even get one. So I guess I will have to do some more shopping around The parts guys for Nissan told me that the O2 sensor I need is the one on the passenger side? I thought they were all inline? Does anyone have a diagram of all the O2 sensors on a cali spec Max? Sorry but I am still a when it comes to this stuff. Thanks again guys
