Thats a Tuffy!

I installed my new suspension just over a week ago. Today I went to Tuffy to get an alignment and the guy told me theres nothing he could do because I lowered it. Therefore its never going to be right. He said it would just go out again and asked me if it pulls. I told him no. He recommended I leave it the way it is and he could put in cams if I should notice bad tire wear. My drop is only 1.5 with Vogtland springs on Illuminas. Has anyone here been fine without an alignment?

Thats BS...take it elsewhere. I lowered my car myself and my mechanic said alignment would not be a problem..you can get an alignment when you are lowered. I would get a second opinion.

That's ridiculous. Take it somewhere else, it can be done and NEEDS to be done, otherwise say goodbye to your tire tread and handling.

Ask that guy if your car has tie rod ends? And if not what kind of alien setup does it have?

Dont tell them you lowered it. Just tell them you want alignment. If they hear lowered, they start spouting BS.

Do some places have a problem with ground clearence because of the equipment to align it. Such as ramps and lifts?

Yes they do!!! To do a PROPER alignment you need to get the car level, this usually requires a drive on hoist. If your car is to low it can hit the ramps for the hoist. BUT to do that you need to be slammed to the ground. You shouldnt have a prob with 1.5 drop

By the way tuffy sucks azz crack!!!!

I have a Sarona V1 front thou. It hangs 3 inchs off the ground at its lowest point. Think I can still clear it?

How many of you guys steering pulled after installing the new suspension (struts & springs)? Because I don't notice any at all.

Just take it to the dealer, $65 for toe, camber, and caster correction. With a coupon of course.

If you do what Big D said and go to a dealer, or another good shop you should be fine, because they should have the proper equipment. Personally I am going to do mine at my work, which is a Honda dealership, and I know for a fact it would clear ours, because the majority of the cars we get in for alignments, are lowered.

I'm lowered about 2" and I got it aligned with no probs. The guy told me the camber was off and he inspected the tires for uneven wear. He said they were good so I didn't bother to get the camber adjusted since I did about 3-4k miles on the tires before getting the alignment.

If your car sits that low, you need to find other people with similar cars around town and ask them where they go. My roommate's Trans Am is very low and there's only one place in town that she'll go for an alignment. Sooner or later someone with a really customized low car will tell you a good shop where you live.

A lowered Maxima will never be too low so that it can't get on any hoists, unless you're on coilovers like JIC's or slammed to the ground on GC.
