I'm risking that this topic may have been explained well in the past, but due to my lack of ownership of a Maxima, I have not spent time here in recent months and do not have the search capability.

Some of you may remember me as owning three 3rd gens. My sister still has her 1995 SE auto and loves it. About 2 years ago, I installed KYB struts and H&R springs on it. I also had the CV boots replaced. In the last 2 months, it has developed creaking. I believe the creaking occurs when turning the wheel and/or going over bumps. My Dad took it to a reputable shop and they diagnosed the noise as being the strut plate / strut plate bearings under the strut towers. They replaced them, but the car is making just as much noise. They still have it and plan to further diagnose it tomorrow.

I have not heard of this component and did not replace it when I put Tokikos on my 1991 SE. Further, I believe way before the KYB/H&R setup was put on, that I remember a very slight noise which seemed to have come from the top of the strut tower, as you could slightly feel it in the steering wheel.

I appreciate anyones advice / comments. Could this have been a mis-diagnosis? Anyone hear of or have a similar problem?
