is springs w/ stock struts possible?
My friend has been drivin his max for 4 years with eibach springs and stock struts with no problems. I've seen all over that any aftermarket spring will blow stock struts. Is this true? What spring can i use without changing my struts for now?

DO NOT GET LOWERING SPRINGS AND RUN THEM WITH STOCK SHOCKS!
seriously, wait and save up to get shocks too. When you were a kid, did you ever play on a Pogo stick? Well, imagine your car being suspended by 4 pogo sticks, because thats exactly what it is when the shocks blow and all damping is gone and the springs are left to their own devices. Its dangerous and stupid looking. Your tires will lose contact patch over bumps. Not so noticeable on a straight road, but hit a bump on a moderately sharp turn and theres a damn good chance you'll be picking windshield out of your face.

almost everyone on this forum seems to think that stock struts/shocks will blow very shortly after installing springs. Is this a maxima only problem? Lots of other forums for other cars talk about doing springs only and run fine for 3-4 years atleast.
I'd like to hear of any other org.er's who have decided to go with springs only.

My shocks blew on stock springs so I'm pretty sure that stiffer springs will eat them up. When I replaced my stock suspension with blown struts to a brand new setup the ride was the same, pretty stiff. When I looked at the stock struts I noticed that they compress correctly but when you let go there isn't any resistance. They should retract with the same resistance they go in.

I have had eibach's on stock se springs for the last two years+. I really, really enjoy this ride so to the guy that said the ride would suck, you are mistaken. As for them blowing the day I put the springs on, it might be a possibility because like big d said, eibach's are really stiff. However, I do know a thing or two about cars and know that when I blew my struts on my 240, there was oil from the strut leaking around the strut and the wheel well. Never saw that. Also, witha blown strut, wouldn't that make you bounce around for a while after a bump inthe road? My car smothes out immediately. Again, that could be due to the Eibach's but I doubt it. I believe that there are many people out there that drive on stock struts and lowering springs without any problems.

sure thing, chief. Its not really an opinion, its a fact. Stock struts cant handle lowering springs. I bet you a million dollars your struts are blown and you dont even know it.
